Frequent FerrariChat commenter Dr Tommy Cosgrove was kind enough to share some incredibly cool period photos of Ferrari 308s taken when he was just a Ferrari-loving teen with a camera. They really capture the era perfectly. I had to select a few favorites and share them with you! Click for the FULL GALLERY.
This first photo, taken at Daytona Beach, should really be in a museum. So perfect.
I love this period photo of the Alpine racing workshop in Dieppe, France. I had seen photos of the factory floor before, but I love that this shot seems to show only racing cars being prepared. Fantastic light and atmosphere as well. I can imagine the smell of fuel-soaked concrete and the noises of hammers, ratchets, and muffled French echoing in this cavernous hall.
More than any other car, I always find that the Jaguar D-type shows the legacy of World War II aviation technology as it applied to postwar sports cars. It's almost like a fighter plane on wheels, and the men who raced them in the dark and rain to victory at Le Mans were no less brave!
I love this photoset, but I don't know where it came from. If anyone knows the photographer, I'd love to give credits here.
