HRE 308 GT4

These photos were taken at Lime Rock in the late 80s, and posted recently on FerrariChat. Not much is known about this car or who built it. I find the air dam treatment makes the car look a lot like a BMW M1 or Lotus Esprit. The back treatment is rather cool, I must admit. Note the car bears Euro bumpers. Some delicious machinery is visible in the background implying a Ferrari Club track day.

Alfa Import Center is back in Action!

Yesterday was a very nice event celebrating the official return to NYC of our beloved Alfa mechanic Giuseppe Lo Re and his shop the Alfa Import Center, after a hiatus in North Carolina and a period of time searching for the right spot to be in. He's the only man to go to in the 5 boroughs for anything Alfa.

At Long Last

I had been looking to source the correct wheel for my 208 GT4 for months and had nearly given up. I spotted this slightly worn wheel on ebay Italy and snapped it up. When I got the wheel and cleaned it up, my hopes were dashed that it was actually a factory wheel for the GT4, even though it was the correct shape and color. It's date stamped 1983--they stopped making GT4's in 1980.  But there is a silver lining! There was a small faded something on the lower spoke that I thought was a scratch. In fact, it is a faded signature. The wheel is actually an uber rare Gilles Villeneuve Momo. Now I am just happy as hell to have it. And the patina sort of matches the car too. I just need to see to that one rough spot on the left upper rim, which is a bit chapped.

How can a cockpit be so utilitarian and so stylish all at once?
