Inside Alpine-Renault's racing workshop

I love this period photo of the Alpine racing workshop in Dieppe, France.  I had seen photos of the factory floor before, but I love that this shot seems to show only racing cars being prepared.  Fantastic light and atmosphere as well. I can imagine the smell of fuel-soaked concrete and the noises of hammers, ratchets, and muffled French echoing in this cavernous hall.

"imagine the smell of fuel-soaked concrete" and seeing as it's France the unmistakable whiff of Gitanes.

Really nice picture that. It reminds me of picture from an old Saab factory in southern Sweden, in the village of Arlöv, where Sonett Sportscars was made. The days when Saab 2 stroke, V4 96's and Renault Gordinis battled it out on the Rally stretches.

Wonder what the smell was like at Talbot/Simca factory at the time this picture was taken? Oil, petrol, Baguette and red wine?

Cheers/Tom
