Video of the week: Alfa 156 at the Nordschleife
I never get tired of watching Nurburgring hotlap videos. I know I'm not alone. You're welcome.

It's almost hypnotic watching the footwell angle in this awesome 80's Rally video, featuring the legendary combination of Walter Rohrl and the Audi Quattro S1 Groupe B Rally car. The funky 80s electro soundtrack is an added bonus, of course.
I've seen a lot of great in-car videos, but this one really takes my breath away. Watch as Ozzie auto journalist Dean Evans cuts through traffic in this single-make Lotus Elise race at Australia's Mount Panorama Circuit. It's remarkable how tightly packed the cars are, yet nobody seems to touch, even at 4 abreast into a corner! Evans manages to knife his way through the dense and frenzied traffic from mid-pack to the lead --in less than one lap!
Check out the epic triple-overtake under braking, on the outside of one of circuit's hairiest corners at 1:42. Truly brass balls.
Somehow I never saw this fun video til now. Moss is definitely the fastest 80 year old around! I love watching him at work at the 2009 Goodwood Revival in a Lotus Cortina.
I can't help but add this hilarious shot via Jalopnik.
Here is another video from Gregor Fiskens. The audio is not so great but the footage shows a lovely dice with a Maserati Birdcage.
I think the DBR1 is perhaps the prettiest of all 1950's sports cars. It's more Italianate and flowing than any Jaguar, more emotional than the Mercedes 300SLR, yet more understated and refined than any Ferrari. I would say the car it compares most closely to in looks is the Maserati 300S. But I happen to like the lines of the Aston more. Truly a wonderful machine! At bottom is a photo I took of Dr. Simeone's DBR1 in Philadelphia.
