It wasn't just a pretty face. Dr. Dick Thompson won the SCCA C Modified championship with it in 1960; victories at Marlboro, VIR, Bridgehampton, and Road America.

Oh yes, it was a very sophisticated chassis that Mitchell essentially bought internally at GM for a nominal sum so he could make something out of it! If only today's GM had that sort of vision inside it.

Well, GM has done a fine job with the C-6 in ALMS and at LeMans. That's recent. As for Ed Welburn's claim that the C-7 was "inspired" by the Stingray, or at least some of its styling cues, ...not so much...
