Peerless Camaro

It's hard to pinpoint precisely when the Camaro went from awesome to terrible. But this Trans Am version is most certainly awesome.

I think it exists on a wavy continuum, where some days a block-lined 3rd Gen is the height of cheap performance, and others it is a rattley crapcan.

i would say in 1974. i wouldn't touch anything later than a '73, personally.

I would also say 1973 was the last good year of the second body style. I also like the mid 1990's version ok before the headlight redesign, as its a sleek looking car. When the Ferrari 550M came out I always got the feeling Pininfarina may have looked at a 1993-4 Camaro for ideas :). The 550M was designed in 1993/4 and came out in late 1995.

The design of the original Camaro was copied from the Ferrari 250SWB.

Lance, I think I'd like to see the evidence of that claim! It would make for an interesting post, if true!

I didn't know that Camaros were terrible. Maybe later ones are not as good as the early ones, but still not terrible. Certainly not considering their domestic contemporaries.
I know its quite fashionable to decry F bodies as awful, slinging epithets and making mullet remarks, but really, objective analysis and data don't support their slander. Certainly the post 73 cars are not as good as the earlier ones, but that holds true for most models.

I see the connection, Lance. I love the SWB and I love the 2nd generation Camaros, too...now I know why.
