The first generation Buick Riviera (1963-65) was the best looking American car of its day. It was too large, of course, but all the design elements were understated, graceful and harmonious. It was nearly impossible to believe it was a Buick. They made a nice looking convertible in 1946 as I recall, but before or since... always an ungainly fatso. I don't count the "Y Job", nice as it was, since it was a one-off.
