First, let me apologize for going a week with no new posts! Things have been busy over in Automobiliac HQ, but I have some very exciting new posts in the works, including a Greenwich Concours gallery, as well as some Alfa GTV6 track day video! So stay tuned for more!
And of course, Le Mans is right around the corner, so I thought I would show my bias towards the French by posting a photo of what has to be the prettiest prototype racing car of the 90s, and which marked Peugeot's return to La Sarthe. The 905 did eventually win the race, but with a less elegant body than the early version pictured here. The new Audi looks totally sweet, but I am a total sucker for French victory at Le Mans!

I know its a matter of taste, but the purple Silk Cut Jaguar XJR14 murders the 905 in looks and on the track, winning more races that anyone in 1991 and taking the FIA Group C championship. The 905's V10 motor might sound a little better than the XJR14's Cosworth F1 based motor, but that's the only thing it comes out ahead in.

No doubt the Jag was a better car. But I think the 905 was so fluid and elegant. The Jag is still very beautiful as well.

I, for some reason, can't get enough of the brutality of the later, unraced 905 Evo 2 that looked just so damn weird with that high nose and that bobtail rear with a glorious biplane wing

the same goes for the Allard J2X - two cars that put aerodynamic function way above form and ended up really capturing that look that people tend to call "striking"

To be honest, the Mercedes/Sauber C11 and C292 were also very good looking cars. Group C is still missed. I like the cycle wing 905. I guess F1 drove it under as the cars were so expensive and high tech they were getting into Bernie's territory.

Yes, I think you'll recall I had a post about the C11 and how sleek it still looks. To me though, it's more purposeful than beautiful.
I was hoping the French would win this year also....But on the bright side the Corvettes are back on top and the Ferrari's looked alot better.

Yeah I was pleased to see Corvette win again, and although I am not an Audi fan, I like that it didn't come easy for them this year. Glad their drivers were not injured in those horrific shunts though.
