Perhaps the sky isn't falling?

Given the animated discussion on the previous thread, I thought Car and Driver's chart below might put some of this in perspective. It is true that Alfa is closer than ever to re-entering the US market, and it's a verifiable fact that the FIAT 500 was at the New York Auto Show and most certainly will soon be available here. However, given the history of promises that Alfa's return is imminent, perhaps once again it's just a matter of blowing smoke...

A spokesperson for Alfa Romeo responded earlier today to questions from the automotive press with the following statement: "We are pleased to offer our best projection for the return to the US market of a full line of Alfa Romeo automobiles, including open and closed configurations of a pure and genuine sports two-seater. Our schedule is tentatively timed to co-inside with the freezing over of Hell."

The typo "co-inside" [sic] appeared in the printed hand-out given to those present.
The Alfa Spokesman said, once the US government gets Bin Laden, then we'll bring Alfa ba---wait, what?? They got him??
