Elf Scan 8: Renault Alpine A110 Rallye de Monte Carlo

I love this dreamy night shot. The snow almost looks like a lunar surface.  Click to enlarge the photo. The A110 is one of my all-time favorite cars.  It's like a French Porsche 911! The video below is a must-watch, featuring breathtaking period footage of the A110 at speed on the Monte Carlo Rallye, including wonderful on-board views. Hat tip to Syed of IEDEI on this awesome video!

Here is the back of the photo card, with some awesome technical drawings and info for those who can read French. Sorry it's cut off at the top  -- my scanner is small.

Watching the beginning of this video I tried to think of anything someone might do that would be stupider; the answer wasn't long in coming -- doing the same thing at night. Sure is fun to watch though.

Cool little cars. I know of one not that far from my town. I saw it on the road and it was so tiny. Up by Highland Park there was an earlier model sitting in a junkyard until around 1995!! Atleast it didn't rust :)

Very fitting that you posted this on the day I'm driving to Missouri for the rally. That's one of my favorite cars too, still have a Tamiya 1/24 kit in the closet that I'll put together some day...
