My first car

Going through some old CDs with no labels on them, I found this pic of my very first car, also pictured HERE. Back in those days (the mid 90s) this beautiful machine was worth less than 5 grand....Today, if I had held onto it, who knows...I can't say I miss that car, but it sure was a joy to own and drive (except in the snow!)

Of all the cars you own or have owned, this one makes me the most jealous by far :)

Never drove one; always wanted to. Can attest that my "Poor Man's 2002" Datsun 510 could NOT stay with a well-driven one in twisties, even with a rear anti-roll bar to dial out some of the 510's (impressive) basic understeer. I like to think that the current 135i takes BMW back to its 2002 roots. With less elegant looks.

"I like to think that the current 135i takes BMW back to its 2002 roots."

If anything, the base *128i* is probably closer to a 2002, as the 135i is still a bit of a hot rod -- a big (or at least powerful) motor in a relatively small package. The 2002 is really just a nicely-balanced driver's car.

128i vs. 135i: point taken. It's just that I'm done with cars with p/w ratios higher than about 15:1. (Not that I could afford a 135i!). Didn't look up the p/w ratio of the 2002, but it was pretty stellar for those days. My 510 was about 23:1, driver and a tankful up. I have time slips from drag strips @ 18.50 to 19.50 seconds. It was like watching grass grow while you watered it. ;-)

Yeah I love the 2002 but I am afraid by the time I can afford one as a second car they will be super pricey. I hear you about driving rwd in the snow. I drove a Miata in indiana for one winter no abs no traction and "all weather" tires. I am amazed I survived. Also I grew up in the south so my snow driving experience was nill.

I love the 2002. My first car was 1983 BMW 635CSI and I miss it a lot. It was supersonic.

Among all the cars we buy we very much love our first car. Emotions get attached to it. I love my car so much. Old cars each parts are so strong and good which we can't find in today's world. Now the cars invented have every good features which are invented for the comfort of people.
