The weather outside is frightful...

so sad to have to let this storm go to waste, as winter hoonage (before the plows are able to clear everything away) on proper cold weather tires is one of the great joys of the snowy season.
(still stuck in preternaturally mild denver- unable to fly in.)
dude that's what YOU should be doing.....winter driving is one of THE great joys of motoring!! i've been having a blast the past few days. And that Alfa looks sweet in the snow!! GET ON IT SIR!!
Not all of us have rally-bred all wheel drive at our disposal...
Don't drive your classic Alfa in the snow. 1980's cars rust if driven in salt. Have you ever seen a mid 1980's Subaru or Toyota that was driven in salt? The answer..hell no since they are now piles of rust in a junkyard.

f1 Tommy: not true. you will find plenty of euro cars playing in the snow. the reason 80s toyotas and subarus are in the junker is not because they rusted from being driven in snow.....it's because they were rubbish!!!!
this is what i just came back from. they're using zippos, and we, as always are still rubbing two goddam sticks together.

Well, I have a dry california car made from low grade soviet sheet metal, and I'll be damned if I am going to drive it in the snow. I don't care if they switch to using hot cammomile tea with lemon to melt the damn stuff.
imagine if they melted snow with warm sugary milk.......delightful! (minus the days following, of course....which would be quite curd-y
Funny that you should mention the poor quality Russian steel. My Balocco had a communist flyer under the never used spare tire when I got it. Back in the early 1980's Italy almost went in that direction. The old Italian cars truly did start rusting before they left the factory. On Ferrarichat they have a picture of rows of Dino's and Daytona's with no primer sitting behind the factory waiting for their turn on the production line. They had a nice coat of rust between the lead joint lines.
